Stringer

No survey is finished until the surveyed strings are drafted in the drawing.

Stringer/Reducer for Autodesk Civil 3D.

Download the zipped AVI's to see what Stringer/Reducer can do for you.

Reducer - 1.6 Meg

Importing Points - 1.3 Meg

Stringer - 1.5 Meg

If you do not have Advanced Road Design on your computer, you will need to download CAMTASIA to play the AVI.

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET – STRINGER/REDUCER

Stringer - with its simple but powerful string tools, provides the optimum method of completing survey drafting work in Autodesk Civil 3D and Land Desktop.

Collecting Field Data for use with Stringer

  • Collect field data and export as:
    - Point Number, Easting, Northing Height, Description

String Functions

  • Simple library files are used to assign layers for the strings
  • The strings can be drawn in both 2D and 3D
  • 3D strings are automatically added to nominated Surface Model
  • Strings can be enhanced with templates to allow both 2D and 3D offsets

Simple To Use String System

  • Civil3d or Land Desktop points in the drawing are strung with the following rules:
    - Alpha coding - add a string number to the Point Description code,
Eg, TK becomes TK1, TK2 etc
    - Numeric Coding - add a string number to the Point Description code such that the code contains a minimum of 4 digits, Eg, 408 is seen as a point only, 4081 or 40801 are seen as stringable points.

Dynamic Editing of Codes

  • Change the code parameter and the string automatically updates

String Commands

  • String enhancement instructions allow:
    - Closing of a string
    - Drawing parallel offsets
    - Completion of 3 points to a rectangle
    - Completion of 2 points to a rectangle with user-supplied width
    - Multiple curves initiated with a 3-point arc, or an arc tangential to previous line
    - Rotation of Description Key-based blocks to next or previous shot

Additional Features

  • Join two line/polylines to a single 3D polyline inclusive of creating a joining link
  • Dynamic Editing of point descriptions
  • Point Group manipulation and comparison functions
  • Drawing offsets to existing strings
  • Drawing templates to existing strings
  • Reverse polyline
  • List codes used in file
  • Export UCS co-ordinates to ASCII
  • Write station data to next point
  • Survey Traverse editor and cadastre line creation tools
  • Menu interface for template creation and assignment

Reducer – Reads raw survey data from a multitude of data recorder formats, allows editing of raw data and transfer to Civil3d/Land Desktop

Reducer is designed to allow the conversion of raw field information to a format known as the RW5 format. Once converted, the program then offers the survey information in the editor for amendments and additions of the survey data. Once the field file is amended, and the alterations saved to the rw5 file, we can reduce the information to coordinates. Alternatively, you can use the Saveas facility to save the file in Field Book Format (FBK).

For reduction purposes we can nominate a control file in CSV (Point number, East, North, Elevation, Code) or RW5 format. The coordinates from the control file override the coordinates in the field file if the same point exists in both. Once the observations are reduced, you can use the transformation capability of Reducer to translate, rotate, and even scale the field information based on a datum line nominated. Reducer allows resections in the raw data or Translations in the coordinate data.
